GRAPHIC DESIGN: Chicago Warriors Baseball Graphic
At times, you come across a graphic that resonates with you, sparking the desire to incorporate something similar into your brand or business. However, figuring out how to bring that vision to life can be a challenge, especially when time is limited. This was precisely the case for the founder of the Chicago Warriors Baseball program, who was inspired by a graphic seen during the 2022 MLB postseason games. This is where I stepped in to help make this happen.
Here is the image that my client saw during the 2022 postseason game. He sent me this screen shot with how he was envisioning it laying out for the Chicago Warriors. This was perfect direction for me to get started.
To begin, I searched for a typeface that closely resembled the one in the image. After sifting through numerous blocky fonts, I discovered Eurostyle Extended, which was a suitable match. Using this typeface as my foundation, I customized the letters by manipulating some to be wider and introducing rounded breaks in others to achieve the desired effect.

Once the letter design was to my liking, the next step was choosing the colors for the text and determining the layout. I enjoy exploring all available options since it's hard to anticipate the outcome without seeing it firsthand. This led us to experiment with various colored text boxes, outlines, and different color combinations, including testing different base colors.

After testing out all of the options, we narrowed it down to the best ones that look good on the team’s black and green base colors.

My son has been a player in the Chicago Warriors program for years now and it is still fun to see the kids and coaches wearing gear with the graphic that I helped create.
