LOGO DESIGN: CMB IMAGE + DESIGN
“If you want to be proud of yourself, then do things in which you can take pride.” ~ Karen Horney
I am very proud of this logo design, mainly because it is a project I did for myself, and aren’t we our worst client?
If you are like me, client projects are always easier than completing your own. The end result is never just right or it’s never perfect. But I needed a logo, and it was important to me that I was the one to create it. I needed to discover my style, my brand, my purpose, all with this logo.
To get started, I stepped outside of myself and became my own client. I created a questionnaire to find out more about my business as I would any client: what kind of clients did I want to attract, what is the purpose of my business, and what kind of image did I want my business to portray. I took my time to fill this out, giving each topic a thoughtful and thorough answer. Because, let’s face it, as with any business, these are the things you need to know!
In addition to the questionnaire, I searched other logos, taking notes of details I liked about them, fonts that I liked, if I wanted an ampersand or a plus symbol. No detail was left ignored. I already had the color scheme I wanted to use, so I got to work trying out different fonts. Once I had the font collection that spoke to me the most, I tried out some different layouts.
Here is where I had the most trouble. There were so many options and I liked them all!!! I decided I needed help. Since the public’s opinion mattered here, I took to social media. I put 2 styles up against each other and created a poll. The winners of each poll went up against each other in the next poll and so on. Voters left feedback as to why they liked one over another which was most insightful.
In the end, my followers had narrowed the logo designs to the 2 that I felt strongest about from the beginning - way to go team! The final result of the polls are what you see on my website and business cards today (at least as of 2021 when I am writing this - we are always evolving, right?)
This is probably one of the most important projects I will ever complete, so I took my time with it. Good design takes time, so it is important not to rush it. I am forever grateful to my friends and followers that took the time to vote and offer suggestions + feedback on my logo design. It really helped me stay accountable to get the job done.
If I can create this design for my own brand, imagine what we can create together! Contact me today and let’s talk start the conversation!
